Frequently asked Questions?

How much notice do I need to give you when I am looking to book my dog in?

As we operate from home we are limited to the number of dogs we can accept at one time. It is advisable to check availability with us as early as possible. We sometimes get cancellations so complete our enquiry form and we will get back to you.

I only want my dog to be the sole occupant...can you accommodate this?

We  have our own dog (he is very friendly) so unfortunately we cannot offer this.  We can, however, arrange for your dog to be our only client for  the period of your booking at an additional cost.  If we already have other dogs booked in we cannot offer this service.

Are you licensed to operate from home?

We are licensed by South Lanarkshire Council and abide by the requirements of the Royal Environmental Health Institute for Scotland guidelines

What happens once I have completed the booking form?

We will e-mail you within 48 hours to confirm your booking and send some additional information.

My dog needs to eat alone so what happens if you have more than my dog?

We are good at juggling this and will ensure your dog is able to eat alone.

My dog needs regular medication - can you give them this?

Yes  - we will follow the vet prescribed medication label and keep a log.

Do we have to have a meet and greet beforehand or can I just bring my dog to you on the due date?

The meet and greet consultation is available for you to come to meet us, without any obligation, and to ask questions. As we operate from home we need to ensure your dog is comfortable being in this type of environment.

My dog is not very good at walking on the lead and pulls. Is this ok?

It is important that we know this from the outset so we can plan this in advance.  We need to know if they are reactive to cars or other dogs as to minimise the risk of injury to us and your dog. We have some quiet places in Lesmahagow where we can go walks so it is more enjoyable for your dog.  Please ensure you bring us a harness or gentle leader etc. so we can use this.

Do you walk my dog every day?

We walk your dog at least once a day however we need to take into account weather conditions. If it is hot we may not walk your dog. Pavements can become very warm and retain heat even when sun disappears which may cause discomfort on your dogs pads. There is no ultimate test for this as all dogs are different but our rule of thumb is if we think its too warm for our dog to go a walk then we will err on the side of caution for yours. If its is icy we also may not walk your dog, especially if your dog pulls on the lead.

Where will my dog sleep?

We aim to keep to the same arrangements you have at home.

I just want my dog let out during the day for the toilet in the garden as he is happy being at home. Can you do this?

Yes - no problem at all.  We can arrange to come along, let them out and give them food if you need us to, then lock up and leave them.

Do you offer respite care for an ill or elderly dog?

Yes - If you need a break - whether a day or two or a bit longer we will happily take over this responsibility to give you some time to  recuperate.  We will work with you to devise a care plan to ensure the best care possible.

Do you accept all dogs?

No. Our licence does not allow us to board dogs that are on the dangerous dog register. We are also not able to offer accommodation to unneutered male dogs unless they are over 2 years old. Dogs will be assessed at the meet and greet and if they exhibit any signs of aggression (including mouthing) or excessive behaviour they will not be able to stay.
